Fares Farms Embur's Song is a finalist for the Sovereign Award as Champion Older Female and Champion Female Sprinter in Canada, it was announced today. In addition, her dam, Embur’s Sunshine, is a finalist for Broodmare of the Year.
Carrying the Farm’s famed brown and gold silks, Embur’s Song won four consecutive major stakes from 6 ½ furlongs to 1 1/16 miles during her 4-year-old season, including a track-record performance in the Hillard Lyons Doubledogdare S. (G3) at Keeneland, and daylight victories in the Hendrie S. (G3) and Ontario Matron S. (G3) at Woodbine. In addition, she placed in both the Seaway S. (G3) and Bessarabian S. Bred in Ontario by Josham Farms, the daughter of Unbridled’s Song was an astute $170,000 purchase from the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale, She has now compiled a record of six wins, two seconds and two thirds in 13 starts, for career earnings of $616,926.
Embur's Song is a half-sister to three other stakes horses, Canadian stakes winner Ten Flat, NTR-setting stakes filly Dawn Raid, and $339,000 stakes performer Embattle.
The Sovereign Awards ceremony will be held Thursday, April 5 at Woodbine Racecourse in Toronto.
